This is the annual official national report on homelessness produced by the U.S. Dept. of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Key facts include: In January 2015, a total of 22,582 individuals in families with children (including 12,789 children) were counted in California, representing 20% of all homeless individuals in the state. In Santa Clara County, 908 homeless individuals in families with children were counted, representing 14% of all homeless individuals in the county. In San Mateo County, 516 homeless individuals in families with children were counted, representing 35% of all homeless individuals in the county.
